A three-goal third period for the Fort William Hurricanes erased the Fort William Canadiens lead and the Hurricanes picked up a 3-1 win.

After a scoreless first period, Neelix Otway stole a puck and snapped home his second of the year to give the Canadiens a 1-0 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the second period.

Less than a minute into the third period, the Hurricanes’ Liam Lucas slid home the tying goal.

With just under ten minutes left in the game, Noah Johnson got body position in front of the net and tallied the go-ahead goal for the Hurricanes.

Chase Graver ended the scoring for the Hurricanes, scoring on a four on four opportunity.

Notes: Both teams were 0-2 on the powerplay; In the early game, the Volunteer Pool Bearcats and Current River Comets battled to a 2-2 draw; The Canadiens and Bearcats square off on Monday evening, starting a two-week stretch where the Canadiens will play three regular season games and two tournaments.

Two goals in a 48 second span late in the first period sparked the Fort William Canadiens to a 4-1 win over the Volunteer Pool Bearcats on Monday night.

Joseph Joubert netted the opening goal, finishing a three on one break to give Joubert his eighth marker of the season. Just 48 seconds later, Andrew Bragnalo beat a Bearcats defender on a one on one rush to score his first of the season.

After a scoreless second period, the Canadiens’ Mason Arthur would also notch his first of the season, taking a Bragnalo pass in the slot area and beating the Bearcats’ defense and goaltender. After the Bearcats’ Fisher Smith would score on a breakaway, the Canadiens would end the game with a Bragnalo empty net goal.

Nicolas Pavletic picked up his fourth win of the season.

Notes: The Canadiens were 0-2 on the powerplay while the Bearcats were 0-1; The Canadiens dressed only four defenseman for the game, with Ewan Reid and Aiden Gregor both missing the game; Bragnalo finished the game with three points while Arthur also had a multipoint game; In the late game, the West End Bruins scored in the first period and then added an empty netter to defeat the Current River Comets 2-0; The Canadiens and Fort William Hurricanes meet on Wednesday evening.

Canadiens blanked by Comets

Despite generating scoring chances and odd-man rushes on Wednesday evening, the Fort William Canadiens were unable to find the back of the net and fell 2-0 to the Current River Comets.

The Comets’ scored the lone goal of the first period when Bradley Kaemingh snapped home a puck from the slot area.

After a scoreless second period, the Comets’ Connor Brindley netted a goal in a similar fashion to the Comets first goal and gave the Comets a 2-0 win.

Notes: The Canadiens killed their lone penalty and did not have any powerplay opportunities; In the early game, the West End Bruins and Fort William Hurricanes finished in a 3-3 tie; The Canadiens return to the ice versus the Volunteer Pool Bearcats on Monday evening.

In a tightly contested game on Wednesday evening, a last second Joseph Joubert goal ended the game with the West End Bruins in a 2-2 tie.

Joubert opened the scoring, grabbing the puck in the neutral zone and racing down and scoring on an odd-man rush.

The Bruins got on the board late in the second period with a Kehl Thompson goal as the two teams played four on four.

Just over five minutes into the third period, Chase Macsemchuk converted a pass off a rush to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead.

With the seconds ticking down, Joubert fired home his second of the game and seventh of the season with less than one second remaining on the clock to finish the scoring at 2-2.

Nicolas Pavletic earned the tie in net.

Notes: The Canadiens were 0-3 on the powerplay while the Bruins were 0-4; The Canadiens were without Mason Arthur and Connor Menard and lost Owen Renn in the second period; With the game played, Pavletic now has 60 career games played on the Canadiens, good for a tie for fifth overall. Coach Zach Prenger holds the record with 90 games played; This was the first time this season that the Canadiens held the lead after the first period. In the previous nine games, the Canadiens were tied after the first period four times and trailed the other five games; In the late game, the Fort William Hurricanes doubled up on the Volunteer Pool Bearcats 4-2; The Canadiens meet the Current River Comets next Wednesday.

On Monday evening, the Fort William Canadiens gave up a pair of powerplay goals and fell to the Fort William Hurricanes 4-2.

The Hurricanes’ Chase Graver opened the scoring just 3:14 into the game with a powerplay marker.

Neelix Otway responded with his first of the season on an odd-man rush to even the scoring at 1-1.

Late in the first period, the Hurricanes’ Anthony Sgambelluri snapped home the Hurricanes second powerplay goal of the period.

The Canadiens’ Nathan Caputo responded with his third of the season early in the middle frame to even the score at 2-2.

Late in the second period, Mathew Smelow walked out and gave the Hurricanes a 3-2 lead.

With just over five minutes remaining in the game but with the actual time about to expire, the Canadiens gambled unsuccessfully with the Hurricanes scoring an empty net goal to end the scoring.
