Costly third period for Canadiens
A three-goal third period for the Fort William Hurricanes erased the Fort William Canadiens lead and the Hurricanes picked up a 3-1 win.
After a scoreless first period, Neelix Otway stole a puck and snapped home his second of the year to give the Canadiens a 1-0 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the second period.
Less than a minute into the third period, the Hurricanes’ Liam Lucas slid home the tying goal.
With just under ten minutes left in the game, Noah Johnson got body position in front of the net and tallied the go-ahead goal for the Hurricanes.
Chase Graver ended the scoring for the Hurricanes, scoring on a four on four opportunity.
Notes: Both teams were 0-2 on the powerplay; In the early game, the Volunteer Pool Bearcats and Current River Comets battled to a 2-2 draw; The Canadiens and Bearcats square off on Monday evening, starting a two-week stretch where the Canadiens will play three regular season games and two tournaments.
