Canadiens end regular season with loss

A quick start was not enough for the Fort William Canadiens on Wednesday evening, as they dropped their regular season finale versus the Current River Comets by a score of 5-2.

Luca Jedruch opened the scoring midway through the first period, netting his 21st of the year on a rebound at the side of the net.

Less than two minutes later, Owen Bodnar knocked home an Andrew Bragnalo pass for his second of the season.

Late in the period, the Comets’ Nathan Allan and Sam Williamson scored 63 seconds apart to tie the score at 2-2.

Williamson and Koen Herman scored in the first half of the second period to take a 4-2 second period lead.

Williamson scored his third of the game in the opening minute of the third period.

Notes: The Canadiens were 0-2 on the powerplay while the Comets were 0-1; Kieran Lemmetty, Owen Renn and Tallon Thornsteinson were out of the Canadiens lineup, while Ali Hassan Alam played his ninth game as an affiliate; The playoffs begin next week, with the Comets and West End Bruins squaring off in one series while the Fort William Hurricanes meet the Volunteer Pool Bearcats; The Canadiens have two weeks off until they play their final games of the season in the Hockey Northwestern Ontario Tournament of Champions.
