Herks shutout Canadiens in Robin's opener
The Fort William Hurricanes scored twice in a 17 second span in the first period and shutdown the Fort William Canadiens 4-0 in the opening game of the Robin’s Minor Hockey Classic.
At the 4:43 mark, the Hurricanes forward spun and fired home the opening goal on a two on two rush, followed by a Nolen Sloan goal off a goal mouth scramble 17 seconds later.
The teams would play almost 22 consecutive minutes without a goal until the Hurricanes’ Sloan beat the Canadiens defender and backhanded home the Hurricanes’ third goal.
Midway through the third period, the Hurricanes’ Zachary Erickson ended the scoring.
Notes: The Canadiens killed their only penalty but were 0-4 on the powerplay; The Canadiens were without Deacon Panacheese, Luca Jedruch and Mason Arthur and lost Andrew Bragnalo part way through the game; Ali Hassan Alam played his fourth game as an affiliate for the Canadiens; The Canadiens meet the Interlake Lightning and the Volunteer Pool Bearcats on Friday.
