Fort William Canadiens U18 'AA'

Before the midway point of the first period, the Fort William Canadiens trailed 3-1 and eventually fell 5-2 to the Current River Comets.

After a couple of failed clearing attempts in the first shift of the game, the Current River Comets’ Nathan Allan scored to take the early lead. Less than two minutes later, the Comets’ Mitchell Polich scored to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Canadiens replied fairly quickly afterwards, with Neelix Otway beating a Comets’ defender than slid a pass over to Luca Jedruch, with Jedruch scoring his 13th of the year.

Allan would score his second for the Comets’ midway through the first period to regain a two-goal lead.

The Canadiens and Comets would play more than a period and half without a goal afterwards.

Early in the third period, Nathan Vita would bury a rebound at the side of the net to extend the lead.

Midway through the final period, Joseph Joubert trailed the play and jumped on a loose puck and netted his 14th of the season to close the gap to 4-2.

The Canadiens would have control the puck in the final minutes with an extra attacker but in the final seconds the Comets’ Liam Duclos would end the scoring.

Notes: There was only one powerplay in the game, with the Comets’ failing to score with the man-advantage; Ewan Reid and Owen Renn were out of the lineup for the Canadiens; In the early game, the West End Bruins defeated the Fort William Hurricanes.
