Renn nets pair in Canadiens victory

Posted by Fort William Canadiens U18 'AA' on Dec 08 2023 at 07:14PM PST

In a rematch from the evening before, the Fort William Canadiens were able to score a 3-1 win over the Winnipeg East Railcats in the double knockout portion of the Thunder Bay Elks Santa Claus Showdown.

Just over five minutes into the game, the Railcats score a powerplay goal to grab an early lead.

Less than four minutes later, the Canadiens’ Ali Hassan Alam scored in his debut with the team, taking a puck off the back boards and stuffing home a goal.

Owen Renn would make it 2-1 for the Canadiens 1:26 later, streaking down the left wing and firing home the goal.

The second period was scoreless.

With the Canadiens shorthanded and the Railcats with their goaling pulled, Owen Renn would win a battle at the blueline and send his seventh of the season into the empty net to end the scoring.

Connor Menard grabbed his second win of the season in net.

Notes: The Canadiens were 0-3 on the powerplay while the Railcats were 1-4; Luca Jedruch and Tallon Thornsteinson were out of the Canadiens lineup; Aiden Gregor finished the game with two assists; The Canadiens and Fort William Hurricanes square off on Saturday morning.
