Fort William Canadiens U18 'AA'

After a 12-plus hour bus ride, the Fort William Canadiens headed to the rink and picked up a 5-3 win over the Marathon Northern Selects in the opener of the International Silver Stick tournament in Sudbury.

After falling behind due to a Nolan Tucker goal by the Selects, Owen Renn took a Neelix Otway pass and one-timed a shot to tie the game just eight seconds later.

The Selects regained their one goal lead on a Tucker goal just 26 seconds into the second period, but the Candiens responded with a pair of goals as Luca Jedruch buried a rebound off a Tallon Thornsteinson shot followed by Joseph Joubert scoring on a powerplay penalty shot. It was Joubert’s 10th of the season.

Just 21 seconds into the third period, the Selects tied the game at 3-3 with Gavin Harmer scoring on a rebound. A little over two minutes later, Jedruch finished on a rebound for his second of the game and eighth of the year.

Owen Renn finished the scoring, converting on a three way passing play between Joubert and Otway. It was Renn’s fifth of the campaign.

Nicolas Pavletic picked up the win in net.
