The West End Bruins grabbed a two-goal lead late in the first period and kept the advantage for the remainder of the game as they stopped the Fort William Canadiens 4-1.
After the Canadiens had killed the first penalty of a two-man advantage, the Bruins’ Carter Tenhunen netted the opening goal on the second half of the powerplay.
Just over two minutes later, the Bruins’ Carson Fiorito found the back of the net to extend the lead to two goals.
Early in the second period, the Canadiens’ Luca Jedruch scored his second of the season while playing shorthanded to cut the lead in half.
Midway through the middle frame, the Bruins’ Luke Kluchkowsky found his way behind the Canadiens defenders in the slot and regained the two-goal lead.
Fiorito scored the lone goal of the third period, scoring with just 98 seconds left in the game.
Notes: The Canadiens were 0-4 on the powerplay while the Bruins were 1-5. Both teams failed to score on their two-man advantages; The Canadiens gave up their first goal while shorthanded this season while also scored their first goal while shorthanded as well; In the late game, the Fort William Hurricanes defeated the Volunteer Pool Bearcats 4-1; The Canadiens and Bearcats square off on Monday evening.
