Fort William Canadiens U18 'AA'

A streak that started October 26 and lasted five games ended last night when the Neebing Hawks Juvenile club handed the Fort William Canadiens a 5-2 loss.  The Canadiens, now 3-3-2, were unable to battle back from an early Neebing start.

Neebing got on the board early, when Nick Burrell got his stick on a loose puck and beat a screened Drew Strandberg.  Neebing completed the first period scoring when Dale Vandenbrooke scored, assisted by former Canadiens captain Tyler Haluczak. 

The Canadiens shrunk the lead to 2-1 when Justin Backor scored his third goal of the season.  Following a Neebing goal by Nick Burrell, Terry Zaroski converted a Chris Kovac goal for a powerplay goal.  It was Zaroski's seventh goal of the season and extended his goal scoring streak to six games.

Neebing dominated the third period on the scoreboard.  Andrew Miedema and Mark Dysievick both scored to finish the scoring.

Both teams had eight minutes in penalties and were both 1-3 on the powerplay.

Notes: Volunteer Pool Bearcats lost to the Norwest Stars 5-4 following the Canadiens-Neebing game.  Norwest led 5-0 before Volunteer Pool scored four times in the third; West End, for the second time this season, beat the Bantam Kings on Wednesday night.  West End has given the Kings their only two losses in regular season this year; Brandon Hyatt (injury) and Sean Spenrath (Cross-country running championships in Eastern Ontario) both did not dress; Brad Vis debuted for the Canadiens.  He is an affiliate for the team from the Midget 'A' level.
