For the second game in a row, the Canadiens gave up five goals and lost the game. This time, though, the game was different. While in their last loss (to Neebing) the Canadiens fell behind early, this time the Canadiens dominated the first period only to have the score be even at 1-1 after the period.
Terry Zaroski started the scoring when he scored while falling in the slot area. It was Zaroski's eighth goal in seven games. The Volunteer Pool Bearcats evened the score before intermission when they took advantage of an untimely line change and a rebound, which Chris Fogg scored on. The Canadiens had many chances to take a large lead in the period but were denied by C.J. Racco.
The second period saw the Bearcats take advantage of a couple bounces and untimely penalties. Daniel Niemi and former Canadien Ryan Beese made it 3-1.
The third period saw Cosimo Racco score his fourth goal of the season, when a bad angled shot bounced in past his cousin C.J. Racco. David Dawd then scored two consecutve goals for the Bearcats to put the game out of reach. Jerry Franzese scored his fourth goal of the season with less than a minute left in the game.
Cody Junttola was saddled with the loss. The Candiens were 0-2 on the powerplay, while the Bearcats were 1-4.
Notes: The Canadiens signed Rob Monty as a trainer in the past week and he made his debut on the bench last night. Monty spent the past season as a trainer in the Kings organization; For the second time this season, coach Mike Heino was put into action to fix a broken skate blade during the game. This time it was Terry Zaroski's blade breaking into two. Last time it was Chris Kovac's blade that broke; Brandon Hyatt's arm was scanned earlier this week and he is awaiting results to find out when he will be able to play again. He skated for the first time in full equipment on Sunday; Brad McLean and former Canadien Mike Zachary were sent off the ice late in the game with 10 minute misconducts.
