Just nine games into the early season, the Fort William Canadiens and West End Bruins met for the third time already on Wednesday evening with the Bruins slipping past the Canadiens 3-2.

Midway through the first period, Garrett Hrubeniuk notched the first goal. Late in the period, short a skater due to a penalty, Manerplaw Winning stole a puck at the blueline and raced the length of the ice to net the Canadiens first shorthanded goal of the year. Just 38 seconds later, the Bruins took the lead with Hunter Matyasovszky poking home a loose puck on the same powerplay to send the game to the first period intermission at 2-1.

Early in the second period, Logan Stacknick fired home a goal to stretch the lead to 3-1. The Canadiens did have a couple late scoring chances including a goal post but the Canadiens would head to the third period down two goals.

The Canadiens seemed to grab the momentum in the third period, hitting an early goal post and having a handful of quality scoring chances. With a late powerplay and the goaltender pulled, Winning would slide home a rebound for his sixth of the year. The Canadiens were unable to find the equalizer in the final minute of play.
