Special teams key to 2-1 victory

The Fort William Canadiens scored a pair of powerplay goals and killed of five of six penalties en route to a 2-1 win over the Thunder Bay Bantam AAA Kings in game two of the Hockey Northwestern Ontario Tournament of Champions.  

After a scoreless first period, the Kings opened the scoring with a powerplay marker by E.J. Paddington.  Just over four minutes later, while on a two man advantage, Collin Wiseman fired home his sixth of the season.  In the final minute of the period, Sam Garon wired home his second of the year to give the Canadiens a 2-1 lead. 

There was no scoring in the third period. 

Parker Ball earned his seventh win of the year. 

Notes: The Canadiens were 2-5 on the powerplay while the Kings were 1-6; Ryan Doucette played his 13th game as an affiliate; The Canadiens and Fort William Hurricanes are tied atop Pool 1 standings with 2-0-0 records.  The West End Bruins will finish third in the pool with a current 0-2-0 record.  In Pool 2, the Current River Comets and Kings are tied at 1-1-0 and the Volunteer Pool Bearcats are third with a 0-2-0 mark.  The top team in each pool advance directly to the semifinals on Sunday; This was the Canadiens 50th game of the year.
